Online Baccarat guide

A game linked exclusively to beauty and elegance, Baccarat is a card game that was once played in private casino rooms, where the tables were surrounded by beautiful women and dealers wearing suits.
Baccarat is currently available online, so you don't have to be rich or dress like James Bond. On our website you will be able to learn more about the rules and strategies of Baccarat.

Online Baccarat

baccarat game

Although Baccarat presents itself as something mystical, sophisticated and only available to a certain elite, it is a simple card game that does not take much time to master. Traditionally, the lowest bet was around $500 in casinos, however, online rooms have undeniably introduced significant changes to Baccarat.

Online casinos dispense with the expensive and exquisite costumes, having in fact reduced the minimum bets to around $10. Although online gaming may lack some of the style and elegance of traditional casinos, the truth is that they have made the fun and variety of gambling much more accessible to millions of people around the world.

Are there baccarat games in New Zealand's legal casinos?

At the moment, there is a limited list of casinos in New Zealand that offer Baccarat as well as other variations of Point and bankroll games. You may also find other card games such as Blackjack, or the traditional game of roulette, with an equally reduced house edge.

Strands of Baccarat

While the Basic Rules are the same around the world, there are some slight variations. These essentially focus on who plays the role of banker, as well as the rules of card distribution. Regardless of which side is played, the Baccarat rules they remain indentical, that is, in order to get a hand as close to the 9 as possible.

The most popular version online is undeniably American Baccarat, often referred to as Nevada Baccarat due to the state of Nevada being, with Las Vegas, the capital of casinos in the USA. Baccarat also has a dollarpeu legacy and so other strands have other names: Chemin de Fer, Baccarat En Banque and Baccarat dollarpeu. There are still other less popular strands, but these four are in fact the main ones that you can find online.

In Chemin de Fer, the distribution rules are a bit different. In a casino environment, the role of the banker also changes, since instead of the casino taking the role of banker, it is the players themselves who perform the function (one at a time).

In baccarat dollarpeu, the distribution rules are the same as in Chemin de Fer but with the House setting a limit on the bets. Baccarat en Banque only needs one player. It should be remembered that online Baccarat is precisely the same as the traditional one played in casinos, with the advantage of having bonuses and free games at your disposal.

Baccarat rules

Although there are several strands to the game and different Baccarat rules, the main objective remains the same: get a hand as close to the 9 as possible.

Two hands are distributed in the Baccarat́ . These go to the players and the bench. The objective thus bet correctly on the hand that has the highest value between 0 and 9, or on a tie.

Unlike many other games, the suit of cards does not contribute to the final result. The Ace is worth 1, while the 10, Jack, Queen and King count as 0. The remaining cards are worth their respective number. To get the total, just add up the value of the cards.

If the value is greater than 10, it will move the Digit that is the most. For example, two 7s make up the total of 14. That way and according to what you need will take the 10 and stay with the 4.

Place your bets

To start the game, you can place a bet on both the player (Punto) and the Bank (Bank), or a draw between the player and the bank (Standoff), as well as a combination of three.

The dealer will then deal the cards to the players and two cards facing the bank. In online Baccarat, dealing cards is, of course, automatic. The total of two cards will decide whether a third card needs to be dealt.

Rules of the third card in Baccarat

As already mentioned, the two cards therefore decide whether a third card is needed.

For players:

* If the player has a total of 8 or 9 in this hand, it will thus be termed as a 'natural' and no more cards will be dealt.
* If the total of the players is five or less, then there is room for a third card.
• In the event that the player does not receive a third card and the bank holds a total of 6 or more, then the bank wins.
* On an occasion when the player receives a third card, there will be other rules for the bank.

To the Bank:

If the total is:
* 7 the bank wins.
* 3 and the player's third card was not 8.
* 4 and the player's third card was not 0, 1, 8.
* 5 and the player's third card was 4, 5, 6 or 7.
* 6 and the player's third card was 6 or 7, then the bank draws a third card.
• If the total is 7, the hand wins.

If the player has bet on a high hand, then he wins. If the player has bet on a tie and the total equals the bank's total, then the player wins. If the player has bet on the player or the bank and the result is a draw, such is recognized as a push and it is left for the next round.

These are the Basic Rules of the game and apply in the same way as online, but there are strands according to the type of game you play.

Playing baccarat online is quite simple and only involves clicking in order to set your bet and a third card if necessary. Have fun and good luck!

What are the odds of winning at Baccarat?

Baccarat odds will determine the strategy you have to use, even though Baccarat is one of the few casino games which is truly easy to play. In addition the game features a very small house edge of less than 2% for most bets. The difference in house edge lies primarily in the number of decks to be played (1, 6 or 8), whether there is additional commission to be added to the banker's bet and the amount paid for winning bets.

The best and worst bets

There are few bets available in baccarat as you can bet on the player, the banker or a tie. The best option is undeniably the banker's hand followed by the player's. A tie is the worst possibility as it has the biggest house edge (try to avoid it). From a technical point of view, the banker's and player's paid odds are identical, but due to the fact that the banker's bet has better odds of winning and offers odds that are not in the House's favor, the casino usually charges a 5% commission on the banker's bets.

Even assuming the commission of 5% of the banker's bet, this is still the best option when presenting the lowest advantage for the House. The table below reflects the house edge as well as the odds paid and the chances of winning on each bet if there are 6 decks to be used.

Bet House advantage Probability of winning Odds Paid Bankroll
Banking 1.06% 45.87% 19 to 20 (.95 to 1)
Player 1.24% 44.63% 1 to 1
Draw 14.44% 9.51% 8 to 1

There is also an additional bet, known as lucky pair, which is not mentioned in the table, since it is a side bet and many casinos do not use it. Pays 11 to 1 if the banker or player gets a pair on the first two cards. You can also bet on the fact that any hand has a pair, thus resulting in paid odds of 5 to 1, however, the house edge for the lucky pair it is between 10 to 13.7%, which leads us to recommend ignoring this option altogether.

Adjust the odds in Baccarat

If there are eight decks in play, the odds are similar to those displayed on the board. The difference relates to a house edge for the draw as slightly lower at around 14.36%. Some casinos use a single deck in order to get better odds on the banker's bet (with 1.01% house edge), but worse odds on the other two bets. As such, if you play a single deck, you should bet primarily on the banker's hand. There are still other games that pay 9 to 1 in case of a tie. Despite being very interesting possible results, the house edge is still 4.93%, so it is still preferable to bet on the player or the banker.
